Ten people were injured as a result of a head-on collision between two vehicles on Highway 90 near the Dead Sea. Three of the victims were critically injured, two are in moderate condition and three were slightly injured in the accident.
The rescue teams that arrived at the scene were forced to evacuate some of the injured by helicopter, due to the location where the accident occurred and to their serious injuries. An 8-year-old girl was taken by a Magen David Adom (MDA) helicopter to the Soroka Hospital in Beersheba. A 65-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were evacuated in critical condition by an IDF helicopter to Hadassah Hospital and Soroka Hospital. The rest of the victims were taken to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.
MDA paramedic Bezalel Ben Hamo, who was called to the scene of the accident recalls: "Two vehicles had a head-on collision. We found the two cars about 200 meters apart from each other. A 35-year-old man was trapped in the front passenger's seat. He had serious injuries in his arms and legs. We gave him medical treatment on the scene and rescued him from the car with the help of firefighters."
Ben Hamo continued: "Sitting next to him was a 30-year-old woman in moderate condition and three children in moderate and critical conditions were in the back seat, including an 8-year-old girl with a serious head injury. We treated her and she was evacuated to the hospital in a helicopter. In the other vehicle, there were five injured people: a 65-year-old woman suffering a serious stomach injury, a 30-year-old man and three children. They were treated on the scene and taken in helicopters to the hospital."
