A 17 year old motorcyclist was killed last night on Route 66 near the Megiddo Junction after being hit by a car. Magen David Adom (MDA) received a call around midnight and arrived at the scene. The young man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident after sustaining critical injuries.
Nitzan Warner, an MDA paramedic stated, “The 17 year old boy was lying unconscious on the ground and had no pulse. He was suffering from very complex injuries, and in we were forced to pronounce him dead shortly.” The offending vehicle was left at the scene of the accident, but the driver has yet to be located, and the accident is suspected to be a hit and run. The police opened an investigation into the circumstances of the accident and are searching for the driver.
Another accident occurred in northern Israel two weeks ago, when a passenger train and a car collided on Route 7011. The vehicle hit the train, even though the gate had apparently been lowered to signal that the train was coming. The driver was moderately injured in the accident. No one on the train was hurt.
