Driver Who Pulled Over Was Hit by a Car and Killed

A 65-year-old Lod resident was killed on Thursday after a truck hit him on Route 4. Magen David Adom (MDA) medical teams tried to resuscitate him but were eventually forced to announce his death.

An initial investigation of the incident suggests that the driver had pulled his car over and stepped outside, presumably due to a fault in his car. A truck ran him over and critically injured him.

The part of Route 4 where the driver was killed is prone to lethal car accidents. Last May, two people were killed there in similar circumstances.

Three years ago, a couple from Kiryat Malachi was also killed in the same area when a passing truck hit them as they were trying to fix a flat tire. The truck driver in this incident fled the scene, but turned himself into the police afterwards.
