15-year-old Who Drove a Scooter Without a License Killed in Traffic Accident

A 15-year-old boy who drove a scooter without a license in his village in the northern part of Israel was killed after being hit by a vehicle.

The Or Yarok Association for Safer Driving in Israel found that a third of youth in Israel admitted to driving without a license.

A 15-year-old boy who was riding a scooter without a license in the northern part of Israel was killed around 12:00 today after being hit by a private vehicle. The Police launched an investigation into the accident.

Magen David Adom (MDA) stated that a report came in to the MDA hotline regarding a scooter driver who was hit by a vehicle in the Daburiyya Regional Council in Northern Israel. MDA medics and paramedics arrived at the scene and identified the boy who was already lifeless and were forced to declare his death.

“When we arrived at the scene, we saw a 15-year-old boy laying next to his scooter that was on the road,” one of the MDA paramedics recounted. “The boy was lifeless, unconscious and without breath or pulse. We noticed a very severe head injury and due to his condition were forced to determine his death shortly afterwards.” The circumstances that led to the accident are yet unclear and are being investigated by Traffic Division police officers.

A survey conducted by the Or Yarok Association for Safer Driving in Israel found that almost a third of youth in Israel (31%) who have no license, admitted that they drive or have driven a vehicle before legally receiving a driver’s license. The survey also found that more that a third of youth in Israel (36%) know someone who drives without a license, with youth from the northern part of Israel leading the count in this regard.
