At 6:00am, 28.05, Thursday, a car exploded on Israel's Highway 4 in the vicinity of Nahariya. Police officers who arrived at the scene found three victims inside the car that caught fire including a seriously injured driver and two passengers who were slightly injured.
The car exploded as a result of an explosive charge placed inside the vehicle. Damage was caused also to the car in front of the exploding vehicle. Three firefighting teams from Nahariya arrived at the scene, put out the fire and attended to the wounded.
Highway 4 was closed off to traffic following the explosion and heavy traffic was felt in the area. At this time, the road is partially opened to traffic and drivers are advised to take Highway 70 instead.
The Police opened an investigation and discovered the injured driver is the son of a senior-level criminal in Northern Israel, who is linked to the criminal organization headed by Michael Mor. The Police estimate that the explosive charge was placed inside the car in an attempt to assassinate the driver.
