That's all fine and good, but today we've discovered some even more exciting news. A Reddit user has posted a link to a Japanese-language website that claims Nismo is also starting a heritage parts program that will begin with the legendary R32 GT-R. If this program turns out to be a success, it'll be expanded to include additional historic Nissan sports cars.
Now, the question is whether or not these parts will be made available to R32 GT-R owners in the US? Remember, the 25-year US import ban for the R32 GT-R has ended, and many hardcore fans have taken full advantage and are now driving their right-hand-drive dream cars. But they also all share a common problem: replacements parts for any vehicle, especially a foreign-built one, can be very hard to come by, especially if you want OEM parts. The Nismo heritage parts program seemingly solves that dilemma. The R32 GT-R also just so happens to be a fairly complicated car to maintain.
It introduced some advanced technologies for its time, including rear-wheel steering and variable all-wheel drive. So we'll just have to wait and see whether or not Nismo gets this parts program up and running stateside. If so, it's a sign of great things to come, specifically because the imports ban will eventually end on the R33 and R34 GT-Rs. Never hurts to plan ahead.
