The 2017 Volvo XC60 has been spied testing by IAB reader Mathias Brem in Germany. While it is tested under heavy camouflage, some details can be made out.

The next-gen Volvo XC60 follows the footsteps of the S90 and V90 to incorporate the new design language introduced with the latest XC90 in 2014. The hallmark Thor's Hammer headlight and waterfall grille will be seen on the XC60's face. The shape would be much like that of the XC90, while the interior too would be borrowed from the SUV.

The second-gen Volvo XC60 will be underpinned by the company's SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) platform that currently forms basis for the XC90, S90 and V90. Expect Drive-E turbocharged and supercharged three- and four-cylinder petrol and diesel engine options. A Twin Engine petrol-electric plug-in hybrid model will also be available.

The 2017 Volvo XC60 should debut early next year before going on sale in Europe by the second half of that year.
