UK Prime Minister David Cameron Buys Used Nissan For $2,000, Drives It Home Himself
Hillary Clinton caught a lot of flak for admitting that she hasn’t driven a car since 1996. However, not all politicians go so long without getting behind the wheel.

The Daily Mail shared a charming story about David Cameron, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, buying a used car for his wife. Cameron visited the Witney Used Car Centre in Minster Lovell, Oxfordshire, (near London) to check out a 2005 Nissan Micra with 93,000. The PM spent 30 minutes checking it out. joking that his car needed to be made in the UK.

Cameron told the lot owner, Iain Harris, that he needed a “runabout,” which in American translates to a small city car. He made his first visit on a Friday and returned the next day to purchase the Micra, putting the £1,500 ($2,220) cost on his card before driving off the lot with his security detail in tow. Harris was understandably shocked by the whole thing. “I got a call on Friday night to say that the Prime Minister was on his way round to look at one of our cars. I thought it was one of my mates, winding me up,” he told The Daily Mail. He said Cameron didn’t bother to look at the more expensive options on the lot and that the PM “was very friendly and down to earth, just like any other bloke buying a car for the wife.”
