The Nissan Skyline Isn't Dead, And It's Getting A 400-HP Special Edition
The 2025 Japan Mobility Show, running from October 29 through November 9, is shaping up to be quite an event. Honda is heading there with a pair of coupes, one of which might be a hotter version of the new Prelude. Now, Nissan is hinting at its lineup going on display there.

The range includes the new Skyline 400R Limited and a concept for the next-generation Elgrand minivan.

Nissan will also show off its latest technology at the show. The displays will include the company showing off its AutoDJ system using AI to improve autonomous driving. A large-scale demonstration will take place in Yokohama City in November. There will also be a game in which players will wear a glowing energy backpack to store, transport, and share electricity.

A Rare Skyline
The highlight of the show for Nissan performance enthusiasts will be the 400R Limited. Unfortunately, no specifics are available about it yet, but there's a limited production run of just 400 units. The automaker plans to announce more details on October 27, just a day before the Japan Mobility Show opens.

Not to be confused with the recently retired GT-R, the Skyline sedan is the Japanese-market version of the four-door Infiniti Q50. The 400R is equivalent to the Red Sport 400. Both of them use Nissan's VR30DDTT twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 producing 400 horsepower.

In 2024, Infiniti announced that the Q50 was leaving the brand's lineup in the United States. However, Nissan has continued to offer the Skyline in Japan. It's possible the 400R Limited could be the brand's farewell to the sedan's latest generation over there. The latest rumors suggest a replacement for the four-door is currently under development. Initially, the automaker reportedly planned to make it an EV. Instead, the new Skyline/Q50 would allegedly share a platform with the existing model. The existing twin-turbo V6, also in the current Nissan Z, would carry over, too.

What Else Is Nissan Bringing To The 2025 Japan Mobility Show
In addition to the Skyline 400R Limited and cutting-edge driving technology, Nissan has a few other vehicles to display at the show. One of the bigger premieres is the introduction of a concept for the next-gen Elgrand minivan. The teaser images show a model with a light bar stretching across the nose and front lamps consisting of trapezoidal LEDs (below). The van uses the third-generation of the automaker's E-power hybrid powertrain. The company describes the van as "a premium touring mobility vehicle that offers a comfortable and high-quality travel space even over long distances."

Nissan is also bringing the Patrol from the Middle Eastern market to the show. This big SUV isn't available in Japan, so displaying it at the event gives folks there a chance to see this forbidden fruit. The model is available in the US as the Armada.

Plus, Nissan will bring two of its latest EVs. Visitors will be able to take a look at the new Leaf. The new model adopts more SUV-like styling and has a high-tech cabin with a pair of screens. In the US, the vehicle is available with either 174 hp or 214 hp, and buyers can get either a 54-kilowatt-hour or 75-kWh lithium-ion battery. The longest-range version is capable of going 303 miles between charges.

The latest Nissan Ariya will be there, too. The model will receive a refresh in Japan soon that includes a revised front end, an updated infotainment system, revised suspension tuning, and vehicle-to-load charging capability. The automaker recently announced it was retiring the model in the US for the 2026 model year.

We look forward to seeing what Nissan does to make the 400R Limited so special.
