Looking like a smaller version of the Skoda Kodiaq, the Skoda Karoq is the conventional replacement for the Skoda Yeti that arrived back in 2009. The compact SUV is 4,382 mm long, 1,841 mm wide and 1,605 mm high, and has a wheelbase that spans 2,638 mm (FWD)/2,630 mm (AWD). There's 521 litres of boot space behind the seats, and on folding down the rear seats, this figure increases to 1,630 litres. When had with the VarioFlex system, which consists of three individually adjustable and removable seats, the maximum load capacity increases to an impressive 1,810 litres.
The Skoda Karoq has five engine options – two petrol and three diesel, of which both petrol and two diesel are new in the line-up. Specifications of these engines are as below:
The Skoda Karoq has five drive modes: Normal, Sport, Eco and Snow (AWD). When equipped with an all-wheel drive system, the Skoda Karoq is available optionally with 'Off-Road' mode for better driving characteristics on rougher terrain. This mode permits a greater slip, and the Electronic Differential Lock reacts more sharply and quickly in it. Various other systems put their best at work to offer improved handling in the demanding off-road driving. Dynamic Chassis Control allows the driver to select from three chassis tunings in the Skoda Karoq: Normal, Sport and Eco.
Full-LED headlights, LED fog lights, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED tail and brake lights, LED ambient lighting, electrically adjustable and heated seats, Skoda Phonebox for wireless charging and enhanced cellular connectivity, 9.2-inch Columbus infotainment system with 64 GB storage, DVD/CD drive, navigation and gesture control are the key features of the Skoda Karoq.
The Skoda Karoq is the company's first model available with a digital instrument panel. The driver can select from four Classic, Digital, Info-Profile and Reduced layouts.
The compact SUV also gets advanced safety and driver assistance systems like Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detect and Rear Traffic Alert, City Emergency Brake with Predictive Pedestrian Protection, Lane Assist, Driver Alert and Traffic Sign Recognition.
The Skoda Karoq will go on sale internationally in the second half of 2017.
