Mini Will 3D Print Custom Trim Pieces Through New Special Service
Literally put your own name on the car for all to see.

Mini is looking to take personal customization in automobiles to a new level through a new service called Mini Yours Customised. In short, Mini will let vehicle owners create a range of customizable components that will then be 3D printed by Mini in Germany and sent either to dealers for installation, or directly to customers. The service is available for both new Mini vehicles as well as older models, provided they feature the specific components or options.

Right now, customization is available for four components – exterior side scuttles, passenger side interior trim, LED door sills, and LED door projectors. Yes, that means in addition to 3D printing, Mini will also use laser etching for light-up door sills, and for cars with door projectors, custom text can shine on the ground when you open your door. There's certainly all kinds of potential to be witty or perhaps a bit naughty with such a feature, but we assume Mini won't allow certain colorful words or phrases to be used.

The service is also repeatable, meaning you can get as many custom bits as you want. as often as you desire. That also means you can keep the special items should you decide to sell the car; just order up a new set of add-ons or leave them off completely for the new owner to create.

Mini hasn't announced pricing for its custom service, but it is available now on eligible models.
