The facelifted model will have a restyled front bumper, new headlamps, new grille design, new bonnet and restyled front fenders. Given that the headlamps and bumper are covered up, it’s possible that the new Rapid could adopt a front-end inspired by that of Euro-spec Skoda Rapid. The rear bumper is padded up, signifying more changes.
The 2016 Skoda Rapid could source new features from the 2016 VW Vento, which introduces rain sensing wipers, auto dimming IRVM, phone book/SMS viewer and Mirrorlink connectivity as part of a new touch screen infotainment system to the PQ25 platform in India. LED headlamp could also be an option, as seen on the Vento showcased at the Auto Expo.
As for the engine lineup, the Rapid should soldier on with the 1.6-litre MPI four-cylinder petrol and the recently launched 1.5-litre TDI four-cylinder engines. The petrol engine is offered with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission choices while the diesel engine can be paired to a 5-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission choices.
