Toyota’s pint-sized Aygo is making the transition towards the 2017 model year with two new versions called “x-press” and “x-style.”

A sister model of the Peugeot 108 and Citroën C1, the second-gen Aygo adopts an "X" motif not just in its name, but also for the front fascia where there's a big "X" painted in black for the "x-press" and in grey for the "x-style."

Go for the 2017 Aygo x-press and you can have it with contrasting red accents for the roof, side sills, front bumper, and at the back for the diffuser. The red look is combined with one of the four available body hues: White Flash, Electro Grey, Bold Black, and Silver Splash.

The Aygo x-press will come as standard with glossy black 15-inch wheels, automatic headlights, and rear privacy glass, while the side mirror caps and the door handles will be color-coordinated with the body.

There are also some tweaks inside the cabin where the look of the instrument panel matches the exterior finish and comes with black air vent surrounds. The center console and gear shift also adopt a black look and you get as standard the x-touch infotainment system and automatic air conditioning also bundled with the x-style version.

Speaking of which, the Aygo x-style replaces the red accents with grey ones, but you can have them in silver as well should you go for the Electro Grey body paint. Front fog lamps and a reversing camera come as standard kit, as do the heated mirrors with electric adjustment. You also get LED daytime running lights and electric front windows. Toyota will also throw in a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a height-adjustable driver's seat to sweeten the deal.

Both versions can be optionally had with the Toyota Safety Sense package adding lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking, and a pre-collision system in exchange for £375.

Since we're on the subject of pricing, both kick off at £11,935 for the five-speed manual versions and from £12,635 if you would rather have the x-shift automatic transmission. Regardless of gearbox choice, the five-door-only Aygo x-press and x-style are powered by a three-cylinder, 1.0-liter engine with 69 horsepower (51 kilowatts).

Toyota will have the Aygo duo on sale in U.K. from January 3rd, 2017.
