The Final Countdown: Chrysler Teases a Concept Car That Previews Its First-Ever EV
Chrysler is counting the hours until the moment it reveals a new innovative electric concept car. The carmaker has been releasing teaser images that preview the upcoming vehicle for the past week.

The brand has been showing bright-colored teasers in shades of red, pink, and purple. There are already three of them in the past six days, and the one shown today is probably the last. That is not because Chrysler has run out of ideas, but because it has run out of time. Tuesday, February 13, is the day the concept car will be officially unveiled.

The latest teaser, which is number 3, shows what seems to be the rear end of a vehicle in a bird's eye view, hinting toward a sports car design.

The concept car will reportedly be called the Halcyon, as hinted by the first teaser that Chrysler released on February 6. The Halcyon is a mythical bird in ancient literature that builds nests at sea during the winter solstice.

That would explain the bird's eye view in the latest teaser. The concept car should also find inspiration in the Airflow design study that Chrysler introduced at the Consumers Electronic Show in 2022.

Chrysler highlights the fact that the concept car will feature a “sustainability-driven exterior and interior design” and “futuristic technology.”

The production model should ride on the STLA Large platform, which will underpin cars, crossovers, and SUVs slotting in the D and E segments, according to Stellantis. Which of these body styles the concept car should adopt, we have yet to see.

Therefore, the vehicle will reportedly receive battery packs with capacities between 85 and 118 kWh, set to store enough energy for a range of up to 500 miles (805 kilometers) on a single charge.

With the brand marching toward an electric future and having high expectations, the concept car should preview a production model slated to debut soon as its first EV.

The carmaker made its debut in the electrification world with the Pacifica minivan, a plug-in hybrid that continues in a segment that it created 40 years ago.

The first Chrysler EV will be unveiled in production form tomorrow and will go into production in 2025 to mark the automaker's 100-year anniversary. It would be the first step toward a fully electric portfolio, even though it seems that Chrysler has fallen behind schedule.

However, switching to a complete electric lineup should not be much of a difficulty for the brand. Its portfolio currently includes a single vehicle: the Pacifica minivan.

On its official website, Chrysler set up a stopwatch that counts down until the moment the carmaker unveils the concept car. At the time of press, there are approximately 16 hours left to the event.
