Subaru Sharpens Up BRZ With STI Sport Special Edition
Aims to be the hottest BRZ to date.

There's certainly no shortage of special BRZs out there and Subaru is about to add another one to the continuously growing list. Meet the BRZ STI Sport, a special edition with a few extra trinkets and likely to be sold only at home in Japan. Debuting in a month from now at the Tokyo Motor Show, the latest project signed by Subaru Tecnica International wants to provide "pure handling delight" in a "fun to drive" sports car also delivering superior handling and ride quality compared to the regular BRZ.

While it may not have more power, the Sport version benefits from model-exclusive suspension tuning as well as the best body rigidity among all BRZ versions. Subaru says it's the highest specification of the coupe to date and it will sell the car with a bespoke Cool Grey Khaki paint. To sweeten the pot, additional tweaks have been made inside and out.

You can already sign up to purchase one in Japan, but Subaru is not going to sell the BRZ STI Sport on a first come, first served basis. Instead, it will organize a lottery to randomly select the people fortunate enough to claim the special edition. Full details about the rather unusual procedure are going to be disclosed on October 25 when the car will receive its public debut at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Subaru hasn't said a word about how many cars it will produce in total, but we do know the one pictured here with the fancy paint will be capped at just 100 examples.

As a final note, the BRZ STI Sport is going to share the spotlight in Tokyo with the Viziv Performance Concept. The latter could provide us with an early look at the next-generation WRX and its hotter counterpart, the WRX STI. Both are due to come out towards the end of the decade and will be based on the newest Impreza.
