2017 Frankfurt Motor Show: SEAT Arona showcased
The SEAT Arona has made its public debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The SEAT Arona is based on Volkswagen's MQB A0 Platform. It is the first model in the A0 compact crossover segment. In terms of its dimensions, the Arona is 4,138 mm long and is 99 mm higher than the new Ibiza. The crossover gets a 400-litre boot. The headlamps and tail lights are all-LED.

When it comes to interior features, the Arona gets Apple Car Play, Android Auto and Mirror Link. In the sound department, there is an optional BeatsAudio with six premium speakers, a 300W 8-channel amplifier and a subwoofer in the boot. There's also an 8-inch display for navigation, and a wireless charger. The sporty The FR variant features dual-mode suspension, and the SEAT Drive Profile with four modes: Normal, Sport, Eco and Individual.

The Arone comes with a choice of three petrol and two diesel engines. The first is the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI engine making 95 PS and is linked to a five-speed manual gearbox. The same engine is available in a 115 PS guise, which comes with a six-speed manual transmission or the optional dual-clutch seven-speed DSG unit. The third petrol engine option is the new 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit with 150 PS on tap. It also comes with active cylinder disconnection technology, which is exclusive to the FR trim and is connected to a six-speed manual gearbox.

Diesel options include a 1.6 TDI that's available in 95 and 115 PS guises. The 95 PS version can be paired with a five-speed manual transmission or seven-speed DSG as an option; and the 115 PS variant with a six-speed manual gearbox.

In mid-2018 SEAT will introduce 90 PS 1.0 TSI engine, powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), to the Arona range. Also, for certain overseas markets, a 110 PS 1.6-litre MPI engine with a manual and automatic gearbox will be offered.

Notable safety features include adaptive Cruise Control, Hill Hold control, Fatigue Detection, Rain and Headlight Sensors, Multi-Collision Brake, and six airbags. Seat will launch the Arona in Europe in November 2017.
