The brand showcased the three motorcycles at the Long Beach motorcycle Show in California.
The first motorcycle would be the Royal Enfield Himalayan, which the company plans to bring it to the dealers in summer 2018. The bike will be available in two colours- Graphite and Snow; and will be retailed at USD 4,499 MSRP. The brand will also be offering a range of accessories for the bike. The bike will be equipped with fuel injection and ABS to comply with the norms in the continent. Rod Copes, President, Royal Enfield, North America said:
2018 will be a very exciting year for Royal Enfield in North America, as we introduce three entirely new motorcycles. These new motorcycles are fun, easy and affordable — and are perfect for new motorcyclists, veteran riders and everyone in between. Royal Enfield is committed to growing the middle-weight motorcycle segment, and these new motorcycles are exactly what motorcycle enthusiasts have been desiring for years.
The other two motorcycles are the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 twins. Powering the two bikes is an all-new 648cc SOHC 4-valve parallel twin unit. It features an oil-cooler, apart from the fins for air cooling; and fuel injection. The engine comes with a 270 degree crank with a balancer shaft to smoothen out vibrations. The powerplant makes 47 PS at 7,100 rpm and 52 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The engine works in tandem with an all-new 6-speed transmission with slip assist clutch.
Royal Enfield plans to launch the two motorcycles in the second half of 2018 in a range of colours and two distinct styles – Standard and Retro Custom. The brand targets to price the bikes at less than USD 7,000. The company has also confirmed that the bike will first enter the European market in April 2018.
