Kia Reveals Sexy Optima Wagon
Before its Geneva Motor Show debut, Kia has introduced the new Optima Sportswagon. Inspired by the gorgeous Sportspace Concept we saw previously, the Optima Sportswagon will expand the automaker’s lineup with the practicality and sleek styling that only a wagon can offer.

According to Chief Operating Officer Kia Europe, Michael Cole, the Optima Sportswagon is an important vehicle for the brand. “This is an important product for Kia in Europe, and it will increase our presence in this hugely important segment,” stated Cole.

“In Europe, two thirds of all sales in the D-segment, and three quarters of all fleet sales in this class, are made up of tourers, so the Optima Sportswagon will pay a critical role in attracting new private and corporate buyers to the brand. This is an important conquest product for Kia. The Optima SW will come with three powertrain options: two gas engines and a diesel option. A range-topping GT will offer a 2.0-liter turbo-four rated at 242 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed auto, while a 1.7-liter turbodiesel will come with 139 hp and 251 lb-ft and the choice of a seven-speed dual clutch or six-speed manual. Buyers will also have the option of a 2.0-liter four rated at 160 hp and 145 lb-ft.

The Optima Sportswagon may have a similar look to that of the concept, but its not as aggressive. Unless of course, you opt for the GT model, which boasts 18-inch alloys, a more serious front bumper, new air intakes, twin exhaust and so on. The Optima SW receives bespoke spring and damper settings, the independent suspension has been tuned for better agility and protection from poor road surfaces, while the interior comes with 7- or 8-inch touchscreens, smartphone integration systems, a wireless charging mat, and lots of space including a 553-liter boot capacity. Look out for more pics and info from Geneva where it will make its global debut.
