The front-end of the Sigra appears to be a cross between the Daihatsu Ayla (rebadged Toyota Agya) and the Daihatsu Xenia (rebadged Toyota Avanza). The design was previewed by the Daihatsu UFC-3 concept in 2014, and also draws cues from the newly launched Toyota Innova.
Both the Toyota Calya and Daihatsu Sigra will be positioned under the Avanza and Xenia, and will be marketed as low-cost MPVs (LCGC), and rival the Datsun GO+. Powering the Japanese duo is likely to be an option between a 1.0 1KR-FE engine from the Ayla or the Toyota Etios’s 3NR-FE 1.2-liter petrol engine, and transmission choices would include manual and automatic gearboxes (1.2 variant only).
The Daihatsu Sigra will launch in the Indonesian market first, and is expected to be priced between 86-106 million IDR, while the Toyota Calya could be priced slightly higher, owing to its higher brand positioning.
