Chris Evans Quits Top Gear: Chris Harris Is Now The Main Man
It’s been coming. Ever since the first very episode of the relaunched Top Gear, head host Chris Evans has been under pressure to step aside, and a day after the six-part season concluded, he has done just that.

Confirmed just a few minutes ago on Twitter, Evans revealed: “Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that’s not enough.” Some called the job a poisoned chalice, that Evans was doomed from the start. And it appears the doubters have been proven right.

But as Evans himself points out: “The team are beyond brilliant.” So who will lead the way in season two? While Matt LeBlanc seems like the obvious choice, we have it on good authority that Chris Harris was being groomed to take charge of Top Gear from the start. Despite signing a three-year contract with the BBC, Evans knew he was just warming the chair for the YouTuber. If that proves to be the case, then Top Gear has a chance of picking up where the mighty Clarkson, Hammond and May left off. We look forward to season two almost as much as we're glad to be seeing the back of Evans.
