Powered by the existing 248.8cc single cylinder, fuel injected mill, the 2017 Duke 250 gets an output of 31 PS at 9,000 rpm and 24 Nm of peak torque at 7,250 rpm. Introduced first in March 2015, the Duke 250 was the small engined version of the Duke 390 meant for markets with capacity restrictions.
This time KTM has reduced the premiumness of the Duke 250. While the design philosophy follows the style of the 2017 models, it misses out on LED headlamps and the swanky TFT instrumentation. The halogen headlamp continues to do duty and the instrumentation is the cluttered LCD present in the 2016 model.
The exhaust system has been updated and the compact underbelly unit has been bid adieu. Instead we see a new side mounted canister exhaust which complies to the stringent Euro 4 emission norms. The fuel tank can now store 13.4 litre of fuel which will help the Duke 250 have an extended range. The braking system gets a 300 mm front disc and a 230 mm disc in the rear. ABS is standard.
Slipper clutch continues to be present while the ride by wire system seen in the bigger 390 has also been skipped.
Prices for the 2017 KTM Duke 250 has not been revealed yet.
